The Risks
The reality of excessive UV light exposure
At Fabutan, we strive to educate our clients on how to tan smart and how to maximize the benefits while minimizing the risks associated with too much or too little exposure to UV light. That is why our Fabutan CEOs are there in-store to guide you through a tanning regime that is right for your goals and your skin type.
To protect yourself against skin damage and even skin cancer it is essential to avoid burning at all costs, understand how your skin type affects the amount of sun exposure you should have and consult your physician if you have any concerns.
High risk groups
The following three groups are considered to be high risk, and have been associated with higher rates of skin cancer:
- Severe sunburns at a young age
- History of skin cancer in the family
- Individuals with very fair skin, red hair, freckles and/or moles
While it is recommended that all UV exposure be moderated, if you fall into one or more of these groups, any UV light exposure should be treated with even greater caution.
